What genuinely made a difference was the geekier tools. There’s an odds-to-probability thing and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly criterion tool — I stick to fractional kelly because full kelly is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutching one is decent if I’m splitting a race.

It’s not perfect mind. Its interface is pretty plain — no frills, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. Phone-wise it works though the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. Also there’s no proper app, just the site — slight shame just flagging it.

Anyway. Free, not plastered in adverts, does the job. If anyone honestly does the maths on paper, try it — it’s saved me plenty of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
